This may mean looking younger, achieving your aesthetic objectives / ideals, improving your form and function, or a combination of these things. We will analyse, educate, and ensure your goals are realistic and attainable. Remember, that we are living, biologic beings, and tissue has certain variables and healing patterns that can influence treatment choices, modifications, and recovery / healing.
Alteration (enhancement, reduction, smoothing, or tightening) of a specific anatomical feature or features is our mutual goal in plastic and cosmetic surgery. We also prioritize looking younger, more refreshed, awake, and pleasing (less tired or haggard). We are able to consider and meld these factors / goals, together with functional improvement, to obtain uniformly superb results. Postoperatively, we improve your sense of well-being and boost overall confidence.

Before the Procedure: What to Expect?
Cosmetic procedures vary from quick non-invasive procedures with no downtime, like botox and fillers. To slightly more involved, but still minor procedures (microdermabrasion, chemical peel, scar revisions, fat grafting, eyelid surgery, even some liposuction). To more complex surgical procedures requiring tissue removal, repositioning, or manipulation (facelift, rhinoplasty, orthognathic jaw surgery, genioplasty, facial implants, facial contouring, breast augmentation, and tummy tuck).
The minor office-based procedures can be performed right on the spot at your first consult. The more involved manipulations may require more lead time and coordination. We always aim to make your recovery as quick and streamlined as possible. You may be asked to take medications or make changes to your current ones, as well as apply some skin products. You may be asked to avoid taking certain medications (anti-inflammatory drugs, herbal supplements, and aspirin), stop smoking, and/or optimize other medical variables. Various anesthetic options may be available for your procedure. We will discuss in greater detail at your consultation.
After the Procedure: How to Recover?
For best results, it’s important to heed the instructions we provide during our consultation. Skin care, before, during, and after procedures, is of utmost importance. Use of mild hypoallergenic products and fragrance-free moisturizes may be recommended to make sure your skin heals best. Sun protection is crucial, including blocks of direct sunlight and ensuring to apply sunscreen with appropriate SPF. If incisions are present, we will counsel you as to how best care for them. We may recommend compression of certain areas, head elevation, ice applications or heat, depending on the procedure and time postoperative. Post-op diet may be altered depending on the procedure. Fluid intake (drinking for hydration) is important in most procedures as well. Postop nasal sprays are given for rhinoplasty patients. Creams and ointments may be recommended. The postoperative care, instructions, and pathways depend on the type of procedure you are undergoing, and your individual history and case. We will provide more information at the time of your consultation and presurgical counselling session.
Cosmetic Surgery FAQs
How can I tell if I’m emotionally ready for cosmetic surgery?
While physical readiness is important, emotional readiness is just as vital. Patients should have realistic expectations, a positive self-image, and personal motivations for seeking surgery rather than pressure from others. Dr. Steinbacher encourages open dialogue during your consultation to ensure you’re not just physically a good candidate but also mentally and emotionally prepared for the process and results. A healthy mindset is key to a satisfying outcome.
Will cosmetic surgery impact how I’m perceived by others—even if the change is subtle?
Yes, even subtle changes can influence how others perceive you. Enhanced facial harmony or refreshed features may make you assume you’re well-rested or happier without others realizing surgery played a role. Dr. Steinbacher aims to achieve natural-looking results that align with your identity so that the changes complement your personality rather than mask it. Patients often report feeling more confident and being treated more positively in social and professional situations.
How do lifestyle factors like diet, sleep, or stress affect my surgical results?
You might not realize it, but your lifestyle before and after surgery can significantly impact healing and long-term outcomes. A balanced diet, good hydration, quality sleep, and stress management all support recovery and reduce inflammation. Smoking, excessive alcohol, and poor nutrition, on the other hand, can compromise your results. Dr. Steinbacher provides personalized pre- and post-operative guidance to help you optimize your body’s ability to heal and maintain results.
Can cosmetic surgery fix facial asymmetry I didn’t even realize I had?
Yes—many patients don’t recognize subtle facial asymmetries until they review photos or undergo a consultation. Dr. Steinbacher is trained in craniofacial surgery and has a deep understanding of facial proportion and symmetry. His evaluation can uncover subtle imbalances and offer solutions to restore facial harmony. Addressing these nuances can lead to a more balanced and attractive appearance, even if the changes are understated.
Is it possible to combine procedures safely, and why might I want to do so?
Many patients don’t realize that combining procedures like rhinoplasty with chin augmentation or a brow lift with eyelid surgery can create more harmonious results. It’s also more efficient in terms of recovery time, anesthesia exposure, and cost. Dr. Steinbacher carefully evaluates whether multiple procedures can be performed safely and strategically so that your outcome is comprehensive and cohesive.
What role does facial structure or bone anatomy play in cosmetic results?
Your underlying bone structure sets the foundation for your facial appearance. Procedures such as rhinoplasty, jawline contouring, or cheek enhancement often involve understanding and sometimes subtly modifying these structural elements. Dr. Steinbacher’s background in craniofacial surgery uniquely qualifies him to assess bone anatomy and recommend techniques that enhance soft tissue and skeletal balance. This approach leads to more natural, long-lasting, and proportionate results.
How can I plan for the emotional ups and downs after surgery?
Healing from cosmetic surgery isn’t just physical. It can come with emotional highs and lows. Swelling, temporary bruising, and waiting for final results may lead to impatience or doubt, especially in the early days. Dr. Steinbacher and his team prepare you for what to expect at each recovery phase, offering reassurance and clear timelines. Understanding this emotional cycle ahead of time helps you stay grounded and focused on the long-term outcome.
