Rhinoplasty and Fat Grafting
New innovation — we have recently shown that while you undergo your rhinoplasty, if we liposuction fat, and use that fat in your face and nose, we can enhance your outcome and speed recovery from your nasal surgery. This concept was recently reported in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. (Aesthet Surg J. 2020 Mar 33;40(4):359-366. doi: 10.1093/asj/sjz075.)  https://dereksteinbacher.com/rhinoplasty-gallery/
This analysis involved 62 patients who underwent rhinoplasty, either with or without simultaneous fat grafting. Those patients who had the grafted fat injected along regions of the face and nose recovered with less bruising and swelling. They also had an optimized cosmetic benefit along their face and nose.
We have also shown the use of this fat together with cartilage obtained from your nose, to improve nasal form, and balance, and help the result as well. These studies are forth coming – and we will share with you soon. The stem cells and growth factors in fat, as well as the augmentation it provides is shown to be advantageous. In essence, there are many benefits to fat grafting / fat injections in the setting of rhinoplasty!
In the meantime, in addition to fat injections, there are several things you can do leading up to (before), and after your procedure. We strongly recommend the use of pineapple juice, arnica, traumeel ointment, green tea bags, and vitamin K.
